WHO updates guidelines, HPV screening will usher in new changes

【Summary description】On July 6, 2021, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Special Programme on Human Reproduction (HRP) released the second edition of the Guidelines for the Screening and Treatment of Cervical Precancers. The guidelines aim to update existing WHO recommendations on cervical cancer prevention screening and treatment, helping countries make faster and more equitable progress in cervical cancer screening and treatment. Currently commonly used cervical cancer screening methods include: cytology, visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA), and HPV DNA testing.
